Summer is not complete without at least one trip up there . Playing in the sand and water with cousins has become a tradition, just as much as pushing all the twin beds together to make a mega jumping pad .
My parents were up there this time as were 11 other cousins, I think the kid total was 18 with the adults totaling 5. Every sleeping space was occupied and just like old times my mom was constant in keeping everyone fed.
One tradition we wish we could have skipped was the stomach bug. I don't know if it is the lake water, too much junk food or just too many people crammed together in such a small space but it happens every year. James even prayed before our trip that this would be avoided. I encouraged him not to give energy to this little fear but the poor kid spent half the trip in bed then tossed up his raspberry shake on the car ride home.
We tried to fly the pocket kite but there was not enough wind. Instead my sister Emily convinced me that the mineral rich water would be a nice treatment for my hair. It was freezing..... but my hair did feel softer so we'll add hair soaking to the list of Bear Lake traditions.

We just got a bug from my sister-in-laws kids who brought it from Utah last week. Apparently it was going around really bad there. Maybe it was the same thing. Terrible!!
ReplyDeleteWow, You have been a busy Momma! From the reunion to bear lake or visa versa! My family is at Bear Lake right now... without me. ): I wanted to say that your fmaily reunion looked AMAZING. Way to pull it all together. I love the t-shirts and might have to use that idea in the future.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well. we miss you!
Wish you could have skipped the stomach bug just this once. But it looks like you had fun anyway! We're heading up in a week and are looking forward to some sun and sand!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun at the lake! Sand and water is all you need to keep kids all ages happy for a long time. Sorry about the stomach bug. No fun.
