For those who have not noticed or cannot tell from the picture above I've added a new little widget to my blog to show our growing baby - baby #7 is on its way! We are so excited but all of my maternity clothes have been in storage. I either figured we wouldn't be staying with my parents so long or I wouldn't get so big so quickly - probably both.
Just yesterday I took the kids to the BYU natural history museum and unable to zip my jeans I left them open with a long shirt and a fitted tank to cover. The one thing about a growing belly though it takes up length as well as width and the shirts rolled up more than once. I told myself I was not going out into public again until I had something appropriate to wear. I made this skirt when I got home (check out my sewing blog for more details about the pattern) and then begged Paul to commit to a storage unit errand. He was a hero and came home sweaty with just what I needed, it was in the back and under everything else we don't really need at this time.
I am happy to have my bin of worn out maternity clothes but recognize I could use a few fresh pieces. I just may take apart my worn out favorites and use them as patterns and do a bit of sewing for myself for a change.
My ultrasound is in one week and I'm thinking about not finding out the gender. On one hand it would be nice to plan and sew but on other hand it would be fun to be surprised. What do you think? I've already got everything I need for both.

Cute skirt!!! Find out what it is--(I hate surprises!!) You have enough uncertainty right now.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being pregnant! I love the skirt.
ReplyDeleteEverytime I get pregnant I think I want to be surprised about the gender, but when I'm in the ultrasound room I get too excited and want to know right then.
Hurray for baby #7! And so glad you made it past the 'scary' time, at least that's the way it was for me after having a miscarriage. I kept thinking this is how far along I was last time when the miscarriage happened. Very stressful.
ReplyDeleteI personally love surprises which is why I haven't found out the gender of ours. My sister always has to find out what hers is then tells everyone what the name is so when the baby is born there's no exciting surprise element. It's just "Oh, congrats!" because we already knew everything else except for the baby's weight. =)
I've been making maternity skirts too to wear around the house and to go shopping in. It's so hot the skirts have been a nice change. Can't wait to see what you sew, yours all turn out so good!
Congratulations! I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy (and some fun new maternity clothes too - you deserve them!) Cute skirt!
ReplyDeleteCute skirt! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see what you come up with for maternity.
Congratulations! (and cute skirt!)
ReplyDeleteWe have found out with some and not found out with others. We accidentally found out this time and although I didn't want to, we're having a lot of fun preparing for a baby brother. :)
Congrats Al!!! I always think it would be fun to be surprised but I can't stand the suspense. I say if you can stand it be surprised.
ReplyDeleteI've been debating the same idea for our next baby! I think I agree with "Chocolate on my Cranium" and it's a great idea to wait and be surprised. We did that with our first and I remember the anticipation felt like it did before Christmas when I was a child.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear you're doing well!
Love,
Karolyn
Congrats on baby number 7! Wow you really are a super mom. I think it would be fun to not find out. Especially since it is number 7. I tried to not find out with number 3 but couldn't stand it and had them tell me anyway. It would be so fun to wait and have that awesome surprise in the delivery room.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Alison! I wondered if this news would be popping up soon...
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm not one to wait, I think you should with this one. I think it would be so fun to be surprised in the delivery room.
What wonderful news! Congratulations. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your new clothes.
you're too cute! I say don't find out. I think that's the way I'll go when we commit to having baby #4. I think labor will be more "fun" that way.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Al! I say find out. It's still a surprise--just at 20 weeks instead of 40. How exciting.
ReplyDeleteYou never cease to amaze me! Seriously. I am inspired by your growing family and your amazing attitude towards motherhood in general.
ReplyDeleteWe did not find out the sex for our last and I loved it! I already had three boys but figured, really, who cares what the baby wears for the first couple of weeks anyway. It was so fun in the delivery room when they handed me my 4th boy! It just felt right and I would highly recommend the surprise.
Just my two cents of course!! If you do find out pls share the news.
