It is not easy to keep young children quiet on Sunday afternoons but here is one activity that everyone enjoys. They pick a gospel art kit picture and try to draw it themselves. Above is Maryanna's (age 4) attempt at Jesus washing the apostles feet - kind of cute and definitely worth saving.
Clara meanwhile colored her face with marker and when I asked why she said "to make myself look pretty". Henry just scribbled all over his body and the cupboards and the table so maybe this activity is not for everyone.

I love Maryanna's picture. We banned paper and pencil from sacrament meeting when the kids were drawing "war" pictures and adding sound effects. Maybe we should try your approach.
ReplyDeleteHa! I love the picture! She has pretty accurate proportions!
ReplyDeleteMaryanna's picture is really good! Your post is perfect timing. I have to stay home from church with the five younger ones today as they have sore throats and coughs. They still want a "lesson" so I will do this with them. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteSo Cute!!!--I will have to use this idea for Joseph in Sacrament meeting--he is always drawing aliens and monsters.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. My kids love to draw - we will have to try it next Sunday. (By 5 p.m. on Sundays the kids are usually running circles around the house!)
ReplyDeleteI changed my blog! It just keeps evolving but I think I am here to stay this time!
Visit some time!

Now that is just adorable! Love all the hands. Did I tell you about the time when I made the kids draw a picture of each article of faith? After a few, the kids protested and said they can't possibly draw another picture of Heavenly Father and Jesus. Drawing from the gospel art kit seems more sustainable.
