Each of the kids just got a new Sigg water bottle to stay properly hydrated this summer - they love them! It is still quite a novelty so one of my boys kept drinking out of his bottle just to fill it up again. He drank almost 32 oz. of water within one hour but not only was he thirsty, he was also very tired. He was soon fast asleep on my bed. I too was asleep but then woke to some commotion coming from the closet. Apparently this child was in such a sleepy state that he made a wrong turn and instead of turning left towards the toliet he turned right and entered our closet where he began relieving himself. Luckily Paul, who was up reading was quick to catch him and then redirect him towards the proper location. It wasn't until the morning when I began collecting laundry that I remembered what had occured. It felt great to start my day out laughing and it is also a good thing I was so behind on laundry that most of the affected clothes were already dirty.

As if I needed more laundry to do

Oh, man... I found out at our last Ohki reunion that I had done the same thing when I was in 3rd grade. It was a little humiliating to find that out during a family trivia game. "We had just moved back to Japan from the States that day, so it was just the jet lag", Mom added when she saw everybody looking totally uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteDo you have your sewing machine by the laundry? I have the w/d in the garage, so we converted the garage into a project room. I sew and the kids play. I can wash, iron, and mend clothes right there. I just love it, and wonder how I can do that if we ever buy or build our house.
Marie- somewhere under the pile of laundry I have about a 28" desk space where I sew - I know it is not ideal but it is convienent to keep the laundry process going. I tend to use my ironing board as work space but do most my drafting and cutting at the kitchen island or livingroom floor.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice and sunny though and I have a great view of the kids outside or in the Art room just over the dog gate..... speaking of dog I do share the laundry with him so I'm careful not to drop any projects on the floor.
As for your story - that is so funny. I still haven't told our child about it. James read this post over my shoulder and guessed who it was and felt very embarressed for him. I think I'll wait to tell him.
I left a post on here and I guess it didn't take for some reason, so here is my condensed version. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with laundry piled almost to the ceiling. You have 2 more people than I do and I don't know how you keep up with it. Laundry is my most hated chore because even when you get it all done, there is always more. Thus, it never really gets all done. Like and unfinished project, and unfinished projects drive me crazy.
ReplyDeleteAl I don't know if you remember our laundry room in Michigan. I called it the "Black hole of the family" where energy and matter were destroyed, socks and shirts eternally lost. I developed the habit of tying my dark long socks in a huge knot so at least I could get a matching pair back.
ReplyDeleteThen of course Roy chose the upstairs laundry room as his private room. He was the first in the family to have his own room but had to share it with the laundry pile.
I love Sig bottles mainly because they are made in Swizterland
