I love this pattern.! I purchased it last summer and had so much fun with it I had to make one for all my young nieces (that is over 20 skirts). They all wore them for the square dancing event at last summer's family reunion and now I regret not taking a picture of them all together. What makes this skirt so fun is the way it flys up parallel with the ground when the girls spin.
Maryanna out grew her skirt so it was time to make just one more. I figure I'll be making at least one a summer up until she out grows the pattern which ranges from 90-150cm.
The hardest part of this skirt is cutting it out and if you have a serger it is super quick and easy to whip up. I used contrasting fabric for the waistband and a rolled hem for the edge. The pattern is designed to have an uneven hem which I didn't like so I cut it even. This project was a great way to ease back into it - it just may be my summer of very simple sewing.

so cute!! I love it. I just might have to buy that pattern.
ReplyDeleteThey turned out so cute! I love that pattern and I am planning to sew many, many more skirts with it. Next, I want to try making one with fabric that has more drape than the quilting fabric I always use. I think it will make a cute church skirt paired with a blouse.
ReplyDeleteBut first, we have to move... I blogged about it.
I love these skirts!! I think I have to get this pattern because it is so hard to find something that will fit all three of my girls. It will be a bit big for Abby but Emily, I believe, is like 130cm and Olivia 100cm. I think that I even have that exact same fabric in my stash :) I am so excited you are sewing again--I have been looking for some new, fun ideas!!
