Kirsten's Dress

Poor Kirsten has been stuck in her chocolate stained, candy cane streaked nightgown for almost 2 weeks now. Santa picked her up at a garage sale so it was my job to provide her with all her clothing, unfortunately the stomach flu prevented me from getting any done and under the tree in time for Christmas.

This dress is a knock off of what a brand new Kirsten would be wearing out of the box.  I got the pattern here and did my best to match the fabrics.  The boots are from a Target pack and were impossible to get on so I had to cut a slit down the back.

Clara loves having more doll clothes but asked "now are you going to make me a matching pioneer outfit".  I said no because I ran out of fabric but she returned with "that's okay because now you can make us matching purple clothes just like the catalog".  I don't know about that - I like sewing but I'm not sure I have the patience for sewing little doll clothes.  I still have a dress for Felicity staring at me in my WIP pile.

  1. LOOOOOOOVVEEEEE it. i so need to ban your blog, put it on some "do not go to this blog because you will feel like a sub-par homaker" list.
I like making doll clothes, because as my friend said to me, "Dolls don't care if their outfit is itchy! Dolls don't even care what their clothes look like."
Make one for cute little clara or she will feel left out.
    It is so much fun!!!!

  2. Suz - did you check out the link for the patterns? I'm trying not to get tempted by it all because my sewing time it tight right now and will be almost extinct when the baby comes.

What do I do about doll hair? Clara drags the poor doll by the hair! It looks just ratty so good thing she has a hat now.

  3. How cute! That is no easy project, as only people who have made some would know.

  4. I understand what you mean about having the patience for doll clothes. I definitely don't. luckily, Grandma loves making doll clothes and gave each girl like 5 outfits for Christmas this year. She's over the top. But, I'll let her be if it gets me out of making them.

  6. That is so cute and looks a lot like the original. I agree with suz a little - I need to stop reading your blog so I don't feel like a bad mom/homemaker.

  7. If you are willing to spend the money, it is about $40 to send the doll to the 'hospital' and they will fix any imperfections. I'd wait until it is beyond home repair. Very cute outfit!
