Food storage and Easter dresses were the unfinished projects of the week.
My front hall looks like a grain mill with 500 lbs. of various grains and legumes waiting to be canned. I've reserved some canning equipment for next week so the front hall will be the holding zone until then (unless we get a call for a house showing). I purchased most of it from grainmix and was impressed with all the knowledge and experience they shared with me as I was loading up my car. I just wish I lived closer to take some of their classes.
The kitchen looks like a bridal sweatshop with fabric, netting, pins and pattern pieces everywhere. Marie' and I are having a little sew along to get through our Easter dresses. We are now making puffy slips to go under the dresses and I think it is more time consuming than the actual dress. I finished Clara's today and I don't know if it is cute or funny. She is still a very little girl (or toddler) and the slip is almost as puffy as she is tall. I'll post a picture when I finish Maryanna's. I've just got to get through it now so I can have my kitchen back and ready for canning.

I'm coming over from Mormon Mommy Blogs, asking for your help. I am in the running for a round trip airfare paid ticket to Connecticut, to meet a friend I became acquainted with through blogging. She is a super fun person and is holding this contest. I entered a funny story titled "Grapejuice Floaties, Now Marry Me." The person whose story receives the most votes will win a trip to meet this generous lady, whom I'm hoping to meet. The voting ends Sunday evening. I am ahead for now but there is a story coming up from behind out of nowhere and I would so, so, appreciate your help. Her blog is www.becausemomsaidso.blogspot.com and the voting is on the sidebar on the right. "Grapejuice, Floaties" Just go there and cast a vote for me, please. Thanks so much-you're awesome! ♥♥
ReplyDeleteLove the shade of blue for the dress. I will post my fabric options so you can tell me what you think.
ReplyDeleteI cut out all the netting and made them into circles. Now onto marking 8th and gathering.
I love your messes! I sometimes think that because my house is a mess I must have accomplished something really important or at least be in the process of accomplishing something. If it makes you feel any better, I still have a bucket of spelt in my family room - I bought that over a month ago.
ReplyDeleteMy bucket of spelt is still sitting in my exercise room from a month ago also. I can't wait to see the finished dresses --they sound so cute and girlie.
ReplyDeletei made a couple of flower girl dresses for my neices last year and i have to say that what went underneath the dress was much more time consuming than the actual dress. Who would have thought that there were 3 layers underneath. gag. I hope i don't have to do that again for a LONG time. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me!! Canning equipment!? 500lbs of grain!! I am such a beginner when it comes to that stuff... I am so impressed. I need to live next door to you and let you teach me your methods and just live off your foodstorage and let you design all my clothing. :)And I can't believe you had a house showing in the midst of all of this! You are superwoman.
ReplyDeleteThat last comment was me... I was signed into a different gmail acct we use for our church bulletin! oops. Sorry to throw you off.
