My friend tftcarrie posted a fun and easy project last week. It inspired a recent garage sale purchase of a bunch of women's t-shirts - $.75 each. So with the kids asleep (otherwise the project would not be labeled as easy), piles of laundry on my ironing board and piles of dishes waiting in the sink, I went at it with a cheap paint brush and soft scrub bleach. It was one of those instant gratification projects that makes up for all the frustrating flops that even us crafters experience. It gave me enough joy to breeze through those tasks that laid waiting.
So here I am (and if you don't recognize me, neither do I - I'm still not use to the 'dark side') with my new or re-fashioned garage sale T-shirt.
On a side note I went garage saling again this morning and for $35 I couldn't resist this mountain bike. And to tftcarrie: "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". Unfortunately I'm quite out of shape and most my biking adventures will most likely be unbloggable, on paved roads along side my little boys.
As for the $.25 helmet I purchased - I'm thinking of re-fashioning it. Did anyone else get inspired by this post? Good thing I also picked up some great fabric finds for $.50 this morning.

You are already so much skinnier than I saw you last time. How do you do it every time?
ReplyDeleteI love how your t-shirt turned out. I saw your friend's post and thought it would be a great reunion project for the kids, too.
Awesome job with the freestyling bleach job. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteAnd I immediately showed those helmets to my husband and found out they only sell them in Europe and to get one here would run us almost $200. I love 'em but not that much. I guess I will have to use them as inspiration.
And a woot woot on the mountain bike. It all starts with getting yourself a bike. If I were in UT. I'd make you go riding with me!
Hey Al--cool shirt. You need to write more detailed instructions. Let have a project day. Your hair looks lighter. Love the bike!!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I noticed was how skinny you are. Lucky! I want to know how you do it too.
ReplyDeleteI love the bleach on colored shirts idea. Yours turned out great!
Very cute tee! Your freehand pattern turned out great.
ReplyDeleteThe bike helmets on that link are so fun. If you re-fashion yours I can't wait to see it.
I still can't really believe that dark headed person is you. Cute shirt.
ReplyDeleteYou always amaze me! Can I buy one? I'm just not that talented!
ReplyDeleteWow Al..l. I just got caught up on all your posts... did not hav internet in China.
ReplyDeleteYou should definately open your own line of clothing stuff. You are creative, it all looks sharp and would sell.
Love, Dad
It looks great. How exactly do you do this? I'd love to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your creativity and sharing it with us!
