Den Leader Make-over

Becca was recently called as a Wolf Leader in her ward.  Knowing how much our family loves hands on projects this calling was a perfect fit for Becca.

I'm sorry I couldn't say the same for her required uniform.  BSA has not done much to make these shirts very flattering for women.  So in exchange for some excel accounting help for our Happy Homemade Bagel business I made a few alterations to her uniform.

It was simple.  We turned the two release pleats coming out of the back yoke into back darts, took it in a bit on the side seams and then added two front darts that start just under the pouch pockets.   If we had more time I may have taken a few inches off the bottom and perhaps  reset the sleeves to a more flattering length.  I don't know if that would have been pushing BSA requirements but what we did so far is a great improvement!

Hope you enjoy all your fun meetings Becca - those boys are lucky to have you as their leader.  You're also getting great experience for your three little boys who will too soon become cub scouts themselves.

  1. Great project, especially for you curvy girls. With three boys of my own, I can feel the calling coming some day. Perhaps when Kai is that age. I am going to keep that idea in mind.

I saw this lady at pack meeting the other night. A mom of four boys still coming to pack meeting as a family for their last boy. She had a neckless made of two different colors of ribbon sewn together, and she had all the pins on them. You know the pins that the parent gets. I will take a picture when I see her again, but I am sure if you make one, your neckless will look amazing in ten years or so.

  2. Al--where were you when I was Den leader--at least Becca has the beige shirt, not the ugly yellow one.

  4. You don't realize how awkward you are until you see a picture of yourself wearing a cub scout shirt --- but it is a lot better than the BEFORE picture. Too bad Al's camera battery was dead when we started.

  5. Becca looks great. This is a project that we have talked about for two years.
I should post some pictures of me in full uniform- shirt, men's pants, belt and socks, and pregnant.
