Big man, Little man

Here are the after and after pictures of my latest refashioning project.  Paul grabbed the scraps while I was cooking dinner and had us all cracking up imitating poses from the Brooks Brothers catalog.

Even clothes that are too small for him are still big enough to cut out more than one baby/toddler outfit. I'm not sure what it will be but the scraps are going back into my bins and the buttons are going into my button tin.

The wrinkle free fabric is nice for men but I'm finding the propertites of such do not work well with a teething baby. That picture was taken just minutes after I dressed him, fifteen minutes later the drool was beading across the whole front of the kimono so I reversed it.

  1. Hahahah. That is so funny he was able to put on the scraps. He might have missed his calling of being a male model! And the outfit is adorable on baby Henry

  2. Henry looks so grown up! Did you use the t-shirt fabric for the inside of the pants, too? Also, how was the overall fit? I remember you had trouble with one of the dresses from the same book.

  3. Paul- are you going to save those shorts for summer?

like the cute outfit. it reminds me of the one you made David when he was this age.

  4. When I first glanced at Paul's photo, I thought you had pieced his shirt together with light and dark fabric and thought --wow Paul is dressing ultra modern. Ha Ha--this made me laugh. I once made a pieced baby quilt out of John's worn ultra soft button downs.

  6. Marie'- this is from the new toddler book. But I changed it a bit using my original kimono pattern. I think it was a bit wide but it may be that Henry is extra narrow.

  9. I forgot to tell you that the three tubes were fish egg and mayo sauce for pasta. My kids love it and begged to have pasta tonight. I will post about it someday.
