I am often asked how gift exchange is executed with so many siblings. It has been our tradition to rotate who we give to each year. We are all grown with our own families but the tradition continues. It is not so much the gifts that make it fun but the weeks and months leading up to the exchange and thinking about the individual and what special thing you can do for them.
This year I give to Emily. There were too many fun ideas but in the end I chose something quite practical. I got her this pro mop from the Don Asslett Cleaning Center. We have two of them and use them for dry and wet mopping. My boys have invented a game called "mopckey" and will clean my floors while passing around a soft ball. In the end the floors aren't spotless but at least it adds a little fun to their work.
I hope Emily (and the rest of her helpful family) like it. Good tools really do make a difference - Happy Mopping!

That looks like a great mop. I mop almost everyday, but I am usually on my hands and knees with a wet rag. I should invest in a nice tool.
ReplyDeleteWe started sibling exchange in my side of the family this year. We are giving a game to the family we are assigned to. We are planning to change the theme every year. Do you have any ideas?
Al--we love it!! I will have to have my kids play mopckey now too. We will use this many times and I will think of your family each time!
ReplyDeleteMarie'- our family is not organized enough to follow a theme. In fact there are some who feel it is time to let the tradition go.
ReplyDeleteI think handmade or gifts of service would be a good idea because then you avoid the whole "gift card exchange"
What game did you get?
I got rumikub for the grown-ups and littlest pet shop version go fish. Rumikub was one of the first games I played in the States. Scott's sister likes to play games and found a way to include me by choosing a game that only involved numbers. I beat everybody that first try.
ReplyDeleteYou probably know this already, but a card game called "match" is your kind of game. I love it too.
