Sewing Therapy

Maybe I should be spending what little energy I have on something more productive but for me sewing is relaxing.

This apron is a gift for a friend and was super quick.  I just traced one of my favorite aprons onto a $.50 garage sale piece of fabric and then finished it with bias tape.  Now I kind of feel like making a new one for myself because this one turned out way cuter than the one I already have.

And Clara's dress is Maryanna's dress from Peter.  She never did grow to like it.  Instead Maryanna said, "it's too small give it to Clara".

  1. I love that apron. Where did you get the pattern?

  2. Cute shape! I like how it flares out at the bottom.
Too bad Maryanna didn't like the elephant dress. You are lucky to have Clara to pass it on to, though.

I am curious to see what pattern you are going to draft. I was going through my old Burda magazines, and found several tops I was to try, also. I found pattern alteration how to's in there as well.

  3. Faithful Girl - I didn't use a pattern I just traced one that my sister gave to me a few years ago. It is just two pieces the top just basic apron shape and then the bottom has about a 14" flare which when cut out looks like a portion of a doughnut. If I make another one I'll post more info and perhaps the pattern,

Marie'- I can't tell you how many times I have flipped through the book. I drafted #15 and have already cut it out of a sheet. I forgot how frustrating it is to sew for myself because I want to just get to it and enjoy the process but there are so many more steps especially when your figure is far from "standard" I wasted a lot of time on BWOF yesterday thanks to the link you sent. What issue do you have? I will flip through the archives and see if there is something in there that i may want to make as well.

  5. I love the apron, Al! Maybe if I made a cute apron for myself, I'd actually wear it and save my clothes from stains. Hope you're feeling better.

  6. Al, That is a GREAT project. I can't wait to make one for myself. I have to admit I bought one of those aprons from a mall kiosk, and I like yours a LOT better. I guess I can give my other one to someone else :-)
